Blackjack is a card game where you can maximize your chances of winning a hand. As in any game based on probability, it is possible by analyzing and calculating the situation well, to win money easily. It is therefore not a game of chance like slot machines.
Counting Cards in BlackJack: Principle
The main difference with roulette, for example, is that the odds are not fixed, but vary from hand to hand.
Counting cards in blackjack is one of the main ways to win at this casino game. We would like to point out that card counting in blackjack, although extremely effective, is not tolerated in physical casinos. Land-based casino dealers may notice this and such a strategy can lead to you being excluded from the casino altogether. However, in
online casinos it is impossible for the dealer to see you counting blackjack cards since it is all virtual. Therefore, this strategy is
de facto totally legal in addition to being very reliable online.
The basis for counting cards in blackjack is to follow the various card draws, turn after turn, and memorize them. This will allow you to fine-tune your odds calculations and therefore your bets. Be sure to set an initial bet that matches your capital, in the order of 3-5% of your bankroll. After a few draws, if you count the cards, you can much more easily optimize your bet and strategy and win the jackpot. So for example, if you know that all the low value cards are out and you have 11 in your hand, you can quietly ask for an extra card to get closer to 21. Since the probability of a draw varies with each hand depending on which cards are already dealt, it’s important to know when a hand goes your way and when a hand goes the dealer’s way.
Therefore, counting cards in blackjack is simply a matter of memorizing which cards are dealt at what point in time, so that you know what will not be dealt again.
An important point to note is that when there are many figures left in the hoof, the hoof is said to be “hot”. The dealer is instructed to draw a card up to 16, and to stop as soon as he draws 17. So, if there are a lot of big cards left in the shoe, the dealer will tend to go over 21 often, making you win real money almost every game.
What is the recommended card counting system?
There are a wide variety of blackjack card counting systems that we can advise you on. Most of them start at 0, when the first card is dealt.
The best known system is called the Hi Lo system, developed by students at MIT. You give a positive, neutral or negative value to each value that comes out. For example, all cards below 6 are worth 1, all cards between 6 and 9 are worth 0, and all cards 10, tricks or aces are worth -1. From that point on, you will simply have to fluctuate the value you count in your head according to the cards that come out. Concentrate on the cards you have in your hand, but also on the cards of the other players at the table and the dealer. It is important to stay focused and remember to count all the cards that come out.
When you have a positive value, it means that there are more high cards left in the shoe. The shoe is then considered “hot” and the dealer has a greater chance of exceeding 21. You will also have a better chance of getting a good starting hand or making blackjack. Be careful, don’t get greedy. When the hoof is hot, the best thing to do is often just to score around 17 and let the dealer die. This strategy increases your mathematical chances of winning but does not guarantee that you will win every time. The management of your bets must therefore remain controlled. Finally, even when the shoe is hot, you will still have to keep counting cards in blackjack. The shoe can become neutral again and even cool down. In this case, the casino may have an advantage over you. So be constantly vigilant.
Is that really possible?
This basic strategy is indeed possible to achieve in order to earn cash. As mentioned before, this is prohibited by physical casinos but is applicable for virtual casinos. Since you are counting in your head, no one can make sure that you are actually counting the cards in the game. The only way to detect this attitude is to realize that a player increases or decreases his bets at certain points in the game. Be smarter and use this strategy sparingly. In addition, if you use such a strategy online, you will find it even easier to count blackjack cards because you will be able to write them down on a piece of paper, change tables regularly and adjust your bets.
Be aware, however, that you will need a well-stocked bankroll to be able to play many hands before you have a hot enough shoe to take a real advantage of the situation. You will then still need to be able to increase your bets.
Multi-card counting?
It is also possible to count cards in multi-player blackjack, to facilitate the counting work and to put in synergy this work on several tables. Gambling is a great way to earn cash, so make sure you always have a winning strategy and play with your friends to help each other, especially in tournaments. Online for example, you will be able to play at several tables at the same time and thus only play hands at tables where the shoe is hot. This card counting strategy is also featured in the movie Las Vegas 21. It is therefore possible but requires a real organization and to surround you with French players for a better understanding and synchronization.
Are there other reliable techniques?
There are many other variations to improve one’s chances of winning at blackjack.
Each involves knowing how to count blackjack cards. It is therefore essential that you master this first point. After a certain number of rounds, the cards are shuffled by a machine. This machine tends to shuffle in the same way every time. Thus, professional card counters also observe the shuffle and how often the cards come out after being shuffled. This allows them to calculate the probability that there are, at a certain point in time, a large number of aces or tricks grouped together. Since these techniques are very elaborate, the first thing you will need to learn is how to count cards in blackjack.
